Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning folks,

Jim has the right idea on the cat problem, good luck bigz

Terri that cub moved over a couple of 40's friends have horses and the girls that ride there saw it about once a week all summer, I hope not to have it revisit now that it's fall. A 350#r was pictured in the paper a couple weeks back killed within 1/4 mile, residential hunter I wonder who's backyard it died in, 3 others all spotted in the neighborhood off and on all summer. Just to many ppl feeding/baiting here not to expect these critters to hang out and eventually get in trouble

nice pictures everyone, thanks for the posts. Looks like another successful cheesie event!

I hope to get the old coop finished off today the dust caused some major breathing issues last week and I had to take a break, found my respirator so I'll give that a try

the other dusty project of cleaning up the pine needles also doesn't help,,,,

weather turning nasty by the weekend, I'll save the gh projects until then

Hi!
Yep.... Terri the roo whisperer!

Judge...Yes, keep him separate for 3 to 4 weeks, 4 is best. He is healthy as I'm sure yours are but you can never tell what's lurking in either coop. This will also give you time to handle the hens around him and to handle him and make friends with him.

WOW, your place is Great! looks like he's movin' on up! LOL
Well- he escaped and is now mingling with the girls. I tried to catch him, but he is so fast! Think it will be ok to just let him be?

Tough Day here on the hill today....we planned on finishing the coop staining and were gonna be outside all day today so...left the flocks out at 11am and was doing chores in the first coop when the special squawk's started....I jump outside the coop and there a mere 20ft away the adult Bobcat has one of the hens, this is a big cat.....I'm yelling and chasing while she drops the flopping hen.....I persue farther after her when i see another Bobcat waiting in the shadows....you never delt with brazen til you deal with these cats......

We bring the radio out and crank the country toons while we stain the coop...guns nearby...very near....later around 3pm.....me and suzie still working on the coop....hear those rooster cries again....to the front of the house I go with gun in tote.....another pile of feathers and this hen was literally grabbed off the sidewalk by the front door......followed the feathers again to my light brahama flopping in the woods.....i must of scared the cat off....you don't want Bobcats near your flock for sure.

The flock was guarded by us till they went in the coops....a radio, or talking loud won't deter their mission for a meal. Real killers at their best.

Call the DNR...I'm on a mission....they say call the local warden.....sure no answer...you would think voice mail would be a option...nope.....call the other county warden in charge of these cases...on vacation for another week.... it's Brent in charge now! Permit my *****

I won't feel better til I'm even now.... they killed 3 in two days with guns drawn.

Sorry for being upset...kinda like being robbed someway.

Nice place judge...you should be proud...I know you are.

bigz
Wow- I would be scared to death! Definitely would not find me chasing after a bobcat. You must be very brave! Hope you can get rid of them

Judge, I would catch him and get him away from the ladies. All you need are a few bodies, arms outstretched (like wings) and corner him. You have to be quick!

Cind, BigFam was talking about the hate mail from that pathetic coward.

I absolutely LOVE Terri's face in that pic! LOL! Tommy must have had quite a hangover yesterday......

BigZ, good luck with your feline issue..... apparently the powers that be have decided they are going to capture and neuter all the feral cats in town...... I still NEVER see any of the feral cats..... they act like their are hundreds of them. I think they would be peeing in my flower beds if they were as numerous as they claim. Perhaps we should enforce out GARBAGE ORDINANCE to eliminate the easy food source.

Oh wait, there I go again being bitter....

Off to work at the UW. I feel so priviledged to be working at two places where my job does not feel like a job......

Enjoy the day everyone!

that have been so patient and helpful with this new member of the "flock" (hehehe). One question I have tho; How was poor Tommy the next morning? I just can't imagine a Roo with a hangover!!! Poor hens!

Now I know I could never attend a cheesehead gathering. Too old to keep up with you all without "liquid" assistance and the darn drugs I'm on won't let me imbibe

Oh well, why you all were playing at least I got lots of work done. GH cleaned out, run raked, gardens cleaned up. Hurrying to get the last of the big outside stuff done before the weather goes to puke on Thursday. They are saying measurable snowfall now for end of the week

(sorry for swearing and using the "S" word)

QUESTION~ is there any place I can purchase Valbazen (or it's generic) in a smaller bottle? I clearly need to worm my 3 ladies who are finally otherwise healthy enough but pretty sure they are beginning to show the need, (and my 7 wk old chick if it's old enough) which with their history is no real surprise, but I hate to buy that much (and spend that much) drug that will sureey expire long before I could ever use it up. Any help greatly appreciated

I also read somewhere recently (on here) there was a wound treatment for chooks that also encouraged feather growth. Anyone remember what this was???

Well my grown roo is probably going to end up being stew. He is the biggest rooster I've ever seen, and I think he messed up one of my pullets hips because she can't walk. If it's not one thing with these birds, it's another xD

There's my fluffy crazy foal :p Catching up on posts now, missed 13 pages!!

Love the pics guys! Thanks for sharing...

So we have these three new d'uccle birds. They are coming out of the coop ( not so shy anymore) and running around with the other birds fine. But at night, I notice my older girls wont roost near them. And are perching in wierd places like atop the slanty roof of nest box or in a nest box. So there are 4 feet of roost being unused now. Could this be why we are lacking eggs because my birds are turning bonkers?

Hoping the addition of the shed will be this weekend and that will give them more space. Might move the new birds over there and see if everyone is happier... although the shed will be open so tey can go back and forth.

Hi everyone!

I'm popping in here for a friend of a friend-

Please note there's a missing person in the Manitowoc area.

Shared from a friend...Missing Person In Wisconsin: Bradley A Miller - my homeboy from Wisconsin - has been missing since last Thursday. Anyone in the area with any knowledge of his whereabouts, please contact the police. Brad's the one in the gray shirt on the right in this pic. The family has already filed a missing person's report. Here's a description from his wife on his car and other ways to identify him:

"From Brad Miller's wife: Please, please let me or someone in Brad Miller's family know if you have seen or heard from him. No one has seen or heard from him since last Thursday 9-27-12. He drives a maroon Ford Explorer (2005) and has his bright yellow kayak strapped to the top. He also has his red specialized bike with him. We have just filed a missing person report with the Manitowoc Police Dept. Thanks so much for your help! We are very worried!"

Thanks for sharing wherever you can.

Thanks Renee! I'll keep an eye out and pray for his safe return...

Thanks, folks, and please post to your Facebook, etc- the news hasn't picked it up yet and I know my dad hadn't heard anything about it, and he's right there. The family needs this to be shared widely so folks know to look for him.
