Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim,

I think you are right. I am mad at myself. i won't let the rest out of the covered run. I will scour the neighborhood tomorrow.
hopefully I can find a few.

David

I found it a little on the humorous side the the first thing David said to MLH's is I hope your dog feels better..... I know that our DH's can SEEM like dogs at times....

Heather, I hope Twain feels better soon! Glad it was a 'light' one!

Well, e.a.t.s. was a success! Of the 192 cupcakes I believe I brought back home 20. People were coming back for seconds and thirds, and they were asking for the recipe (which I happened to bring with me). TO, if you are interested it is the Garbanzo Bean Chocolate cake on allrecipes web site. I modified the recipe; I exchanged the chocolate for 1 c cocoa and 4 T oil, added 1/4 t salt, and some vanilla.

I took pictures of my table set-up, but they did not turn out too well.

Yeah BigZ, that is why we have not purchased any land. It is insanely priced.

Time to kick the BF out.... I am really tired....

Well good grief I'm out sick a couple days and you chatter boxes filled up 6 pages...just scanned through what I missed and hope I didn't miss anything TOOOO important....... Congrats Vicki...!!!!!!!!!!!! YAHHHHH :ya dance like ya never danced b4 and keep at it......GO GIrl..........

MustLoveHens sorry about the hubby hope he didn't scare you too bad and he gets well quick......sending some extra prayers your way.............>>>>>>>>>>>>
Jim sorry about the turkey and hope that little peahen shows up, must be that time of year, I was missing a SS ( Peepers) at sundown Thursday, . she was a good little girl too my only broody this summer and was hoping to have her next spring to hatch me some eggs......... I'm quite upset about it., we looked all over no sign of her not even feathers, I think those migrating hawks got her.......... cuz whatever it was she didn't have time to struggle or loose a feather, screech or flap because I was out there alot and the dogs did not even bark at anything......... till after dark, seen a Bear Friday night 1/4 mile up crossing into the woods, the neighbor stopped to tell Sue cuz the horses pasture is right there, then Sue called me.... I think me and the boys heard it tonight when we went out around the property at sunset to scan for anything unwanted in the neighborhood, heard something crashing through the corn, that scared Bear who wanted to run back home, but Max was sniffing and growl in...... so not sure what it was, but it was at least as big as a good sized deer, but I think bigger....... would a bear take a chicken, and if so would it leave no clue??? also found some new Coon pooh.... along the fence row.......... but I know what kinda mess they leave after a chicken attach......... so sure it wasn't that......... could have even been an owl, because she went missing between 4 and 6;30 lock up........ so I have the loaded 22 on the counter with 25 rounds in the clip..........waiting for whatever it was to try it again......

anyway I didn't go to Jims this weekend...Arm was too sore and Jim had some unexpected birthday or party of some kind with the inlaws/outlaws.. hehe not sure...... will let him explain......plus I was a little worried about this arm, not anymore though that's why I haven't been here, been under a heat pack on my couch last 2 nights to get this sucker to open and drain.... which it did and feels much better, will heal up in no time now....... the meds are helping and the staph homeopathic is great, it already looks better than Adams finger did after a week........ anyway hopefully we can do chickens very soon I heard that ole weather man saying its gonna get cold cold soon.......... and I need some meat in freezer........
Adam starts his new Job Monday at 6am, he has 2 days with the trainer then out on his own till??? a day or 2 probably so he should be home for the weekend. YAHHHH, problem now is we are so screwed for the next 3 weeks no pay check till Nov. 9th, not sure how I'm even gonna get him to work, ... or feed him while he is there........... this is not gonna be pretty, I also can't buy feed for critters every week, and my hay is running low again need to go get a load,........ BJ will probably be ok waiting for that, but F&F will not wait 3 weeks for cash for chicken food, dog food, or cat food...nor will the gas station.... its gonna be a very long end of Oct.......... this year.........

David sorry about the new chickens, hope they come back, they sure are pretty, and I think they are all hens..... I did not see a roo in there but I ain't no expert on Bantams........ maybe they will get hungry and find your feeders.... throw out some sunflower seeds and trail em into the coop maybe they will be dumb and go in.... or bread crumbs....then shut em up quick.........

So anyway I think that was all, except TeriiO glad Tommy is feeling better........... such a cutey pie he is...... and Jim hows Davids Chickies, everyone ok? how Mr Ollie? have ya worked on him at all...? Night all Kim

...Hope he's better soon.

Oto... ope you find your birds!

Making it short.... want to get to bed! Night!

Must love hens, OMG, I am so sorry, I completely missed the part about Twain. He is such a nice guy, Glad you got him to the hospital in time.

This morning, I will be out in the woods, looking for chickens, It is 29 here now so hopefully they survived not having a snuggle buddy, I am so mad at myself, I should have kept them in the covered run and not in the open run. I didn't realize they would
fly 30 ft into the pine trees. Hopefully I will get one or 2 back. I hope they grow on me, right now I prefering the full size heavy birds.

David

good AM ,, David, this is just a minor set back.. I am sure you will bond with the banties..

No, I have not touched the Ollie.. I waited all week for the neighbor to come around.. He didn't.. So now I am going to take the oil pan off and measure the crank and bearings.. I have a hunch that I was told the wrong sizes.. the .030" mains might should be .020".. I still have the .020" in the box..I just had a hunch that I should not send them back too soon..

I really did get to bed early last night,, and miraculosly I did not wake up at 3 AM.. got up at 6 and made a cuppa, which is cold already.. I am learning to like iced coffee..

as naughty as Max is, I think he is going to make the better guard dog .. He is so adventurous.. Bear is more like Dora,, likes to be petted and be around people..

We had a guy stop for a cockatiel yesterday.. I was outside so I told him to go into the porch and knock for Annie.. but don't open the door because Dora was in there.. I could hear Dora from where I was.. but as soon as Annie answered the door , the dog was over it.. I sure am getting to like her more each day.. I would hate to be a stranger trying to sneak into my house..

OK, . I am off to cyber space to search for a boyfriend for Dora.. makes me feel like a pimp.

Good Frosty Morning Everybody! MLH glad that the DH got to the hospital and his prognosis is good! Good to hear from you! Have been wondering about WCc too. Anyone hear from her? otonoh

hope you find them! Went and saw Donny yesterday. His color was better than before he went in. Their draining fluid from his lungs and have him pretty well sedated. Took him up a chicken book to read.

Laura had a kids meal at Hardies and there was a coloring book in it so we gave him that too with instructions that he had to stay inside the lines. In about as good a spirit as he could be. Can't eat anything with the tube in him and when the nurse asked if he wanted anything it was his pat answer. Steak and eggs.

Guess I should have looked around before closing up last night one of the red hens was walking around this morning. And now I see another slw is moulting. Egg prod is down a little but not as bad as Donny's only getting 4 a day from about 2 doz hens. But most are young and don't think their laying yet. The 2 that I got out that bunch are laying here so his should be real soon. Gotta go feed his critters then it's out to the woods and hopefully back in time for the Pack!

good morning everyone,

well good news I saw all three of the missing girls this morning, I managed to get one in, The other two flew off in opposite directions. Hopefully they will meet up and head for the coop again. This morning I saw them about 10 ft from the coop, so they know where it is, Last night they were about 200 ft away. I put the missing girl in the coop, I have the coop door open to the enclosed run. They went out for about 5 minutes and went back in. I am hoping once this fiasco is over, They will get used to me, right now I am sure they see me as their hunter.

Dr. Ha ha, Glad your friend is doing better. Getting color is a good sign.

So Jim am I correct, Dora is a chicken? and is living inside? I am confused,

gonna have another cup of coffee and then go banty hunting.

MLH~huge hugs and prayers to you! You must have been scared to death!!!! So happy things are turning out well. Good luck getting a man to behave himself and stick to a diet/exercise program, you're going to need it!

Sooo, it is cold, frosted, and ice foggy morning up here, bummer. Sounds like many of you had a nice day yesterday, it was cold, cloudy, and damp here that is why we went to town. Better by the time we got home so I let the girls "play" in my herb garden. Boy they can make a huge mess in a short time!

TerriO~I went to FF to pick some chick feed for Noodle and a winter coat for a granddaughter's puppy (a request) I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THE TOYLAND OPENING! What a mess. Fortunately up here it doesn't get as crazy in the stores for that sort of thing. It was still "Pumpkin fest" in Antigo and everything was a bit silly like some woman standing next to the road in a BlueMan costume waving pumpkins (behave boys) because McDonald's was giving them away and Wally World was crazy because they had all kinds of kids activities like pumpkin and face painting going on, Needless to say we did not hang in town too long.

well, hoping today is nice so I can get my garlic in the ground. supposed to rain the next several days
th.gif
Where was this stuff when we needed it?????

..................................

David, if you can, leave the gate open to the run.. keep all the other chickens inside the coop. leave a pan of water and some feed for the fugitives .. then sit back and watch..

Dora is my female dog.. she is a Maremma flock guardian..

Annie got up early and dug some more potatoes.. I have to go down and bring the containers to the house..
