Seriously, this is a good group of people who are happy to have you here and will help you out as much as they can.

Friends, I have a post off the Wega BYP page I would like to share with you..... it saddens me that people are so nasty to one another in such a small town.

  • It's sad that animosities linger. My family had a fantasy of having two layers to care for. My neighbors were some of the most vocal on the subject.
Do I hold a grudge? No
    Apparently the man does.
6 yrs of friendship and **** literally shut the door on me last night.
Maybe is wasn't the chickens, maybe it was just the last straw to an annoyance he's harbored for years.
I've spoken with all my neighbors recently, reaching out. Letting them know if they ever have a problem or need anything, to let us know. Who knows there might be one little thing you could do to make their outlook better.
I'm thinking, block party next summer.

This continues to be an issue in the local paper as well..... I like the idea of a party or a get-together of some kind. It would be a great way to communicate with those opposed (if any of them bother to show up). Anyway, I thought I would let all of you know the situation since you have been absolutely wonderful about helping me out. I will keep you posted.

    Nothing else going on here......

Thank you all so much for your condolences for Ezzy. It is so very much appreciated.

You Cheesies are the best!

Evening To Everyone...sorrry about your Aussie CC! How old was she ? Bummer for sure.

Good to hear Donny is coming home. That in itself will be good medicine for him.

Good luck to Twain with quitting smoking. Cold turkey is the best way to go....first few months will be the worst. If I can quit, anyone can that really wants to. Plus think of all the money he can save for a new gun! worth it for sure.
Bigz, she was only 2 1/2 so that made it that much harder. WTH? She looked & felt in good shape (other than going through a hard moult), no breathing problems, no malaise, no bugs, eyes were clear & bright. Everyone else out in the coop look & sound healthy too.
Someone was laying some huge eggs lately so maybe a problem with that? DH already buried her so I didn't have a chance to check that out.

DrH, I am so sorry to have you worried about Lard Butt now.

I hope she will live to a ripe old age.

I too am very glad to hear Donny will be coming home sooner than expected. Healing is usually quicker when in the comfort of home. But if he feels he has to do all his animal chores, that could be a problem. Just sayin.

Good luck to Twain on quitting smoking, MLH. DH & I did it cold turkey. He can do it too.

Congrats on the peep, Bigfam! It is exciting to hear that first little voice, until panic sets in when you realize you don't have the brooder ready yet.

leesbunny! Hope you like it here.

Wet, gloomy day down here today. Didn't deter the chickies, though. They were busily searching for worms. I had Floyd out mingling with the rest of the flock for a while today. Amazingly, the little runt didn't try taking on all of the big boys. He was pushing his luck getting a bit close to Curly, my biggest roo, but all went well.

The only 2 that regularly square off are him (Floyd) & Jack, who was already in the coop for the evening. His old bones don't like damp days either. So with any luck, I'll work on leaving him in with the flock & putting Jack back in his area in a couple weeks when I will need him for parenting.

Par-tay, Bl4? Next summer, you say? Hmmmm, sounds like the perfect time for a mini-chicken bash get together to me.

Shall I bring Jack or Floyd?????

I think we should all bring one of our favorite chickens and visit your quaint little town.

CC... Yes you... A pain in the @ss if there ever was one! :p

Brooder? What brooder? I haven't such thing set up. In fact the one I'm thinking ill use is sitting outside in all this lovely rain recently! How is that thing supposed to dry out?! SSSSOOOOOOOOOO... I'm sure there will be no panic whatsoever...

PS: if I do have eggs in there from Stella from when she was mine. What does that make these chicks to you then? If I'm adopting them, and you are their mommas momma, then that makes you... Chicken Granny???? :D (Well you are getting up there in age I guess...):lol:

And I was dripping sweat while only wearing underwear. I was SICK remember??? :p
