anybody out there ever buy potato lefse for the holidays?
JJ I make my own Lefse.... I can't keep up with the demand here. The kids eat it faster than I can make it!

Delisha, Lefse is a potato flatbread of the Norwegians. It is made up of a little fat, some milk, riced potatoes, and flour. The less flour the better, and the real trick is making sure your potatoes are a dry as possible when you mix up the dough. It is rolled out thin and cooked on a griddle.

Frenchie, I will try to help you as much as I can......

Back to doing nothing.

Thanks Bl4, CC and WCC I appreciate it.

Hey Jimbo, know of anyone down that away with hay?
How about down by you Bigz? We did get hay once from some nice young men right on hwy 45 a few miles south of Clintonville. Can't remember their names right now. I know there was a sign in their Aunts yard next door that I think was for a DJ servic ???? I'll have to put on my thinking cap.

Bf4m... Someone on my pig yahoo group is in Central Wi and was asking about wintering pot belly pigs and said they would be getting another one. Get me that info from your friend and I will forward it on ok.

Ok, time to take a break from all this hay business. I'm tired !!

And a big THANK YOU Vetrans !!!

delisha- lefse is a flat round tortilla like bread made with potatoes, butter lard flour salt and sugar. ( ya know, good for ya ) rolled thin enough to see through and about 14 inches round and cooked on a flat round griddle. Most scandahoovians eat it with butter and sugar or brown sugar as a side treat with a holiday meal.

bbyldy4- We make our own as well.

Yesterday a group of relitives and my family got together for a lefse bake and made 30 dozen for everyone to have at thanksgiving. It is an annual event and more fun than a Thanksgiving dinner for me.

and

I need a jalopy now that our car is down with a deer dent. I thought maybe it being thanksgiving there might be a market for some fresh made lefse.

I see it sells on ebay but would rather deliver or ship it short distance.

They sound delicious! Thank you!
Never head of them. Looks like I will be doing some experimenting.
I make a German Potato Dumpling that is yummy too, but, it is not sweet. It is made with sour kraut and pork hocks.
You just rice the potatoes, add flour, salt, add fats,(hot, pork or bacon drippings) make into a baseball and drop into boiling water, than when float, add to the kraut and hocks.

Hi...so glad I lost my entire post when I went to stir the GF pasta....

So--OK...we buried our JRT today. She went in for a tooth cleaning and was OK (for just having 7 teeth out) and then took a turn for the worse while I was at a memorial service for my friend's Dad. D took her in and really long story short; she coded on the way to the emergency vets. Her one lung was full of something...perhaps she had it all her life? NOt sure, she was the runt...

Still waiting for the cold front to come through here. It was quite nice here all day...but rainy. I have the windows open. We are having some white chili now...back later...

Nope not for the Holidays anytime that stuff is awsum............... I just fry mine in a little butter and woof it down.......yummy..

Anyway ya all its nice and rainy here but still warm..... thinking tho that this sloppy mess of mud will be frozen solid by morning...my poor horses feet TG I didn't just get them trimmed.... at least if they break anything off it won't be what they need to stand up....unless it all turns to an ice rink, that will not be good at all.... arggg I hate this crap, would rather have cold, no rain and just snow......at least then the ground isn't frozen into chunks of mud in between frozen puddles.......
Anyway unproductive day here, did not do much....... my hands hurt so bad all night I kept dreaming I was being bitten by scorpions........ slept about 2 hours all night........So I did laundry today and made supper and that was it......

or maybe my girls eggs are spoiled or something because there green/ blue and brown...... who knows they will get used to it. so for now all going to put some ice on my hands....Later....Kim

LOL The ladies, prefer apple slices with bird seed, fresh corn, plus their scratch and fleet farm chicken feed. They also like pumpkin and squash. I am sure they will learn to love eggs and oatmeal.

It's getting cold here now. 38 at 700pm the girls are all snuggled together on the perch in their coop. i have 2 12 hour work days then I can come home and work more. Not looking forward to it.

have a good monday
