Wishful Thinking?

Mine (mallards, Blue Swedish) fight, but they don't really hurt each other. They lose a few breast feathers and a few head feathers, but they never go bald in either spot, and they still trot around the pond together. I suspect that, like with roosters, it depends on breed and individual.

My three Pekin drakes are absolutely best friends. They are inseparable in the yard. They’re such great friends that all three love to gang rape the same female at the same time. They don’t really fight each other, but they do chase every single bird in the yard (male or female, duck or goose) like a gang. Then all three will bite the head of the same bird.....and you get it. That’s why they’re currently in drake jail most of the day.

My 4 runners (2 drakes, 2 females) were hatched by my 2 chicken hens last year. 3 were raised by the hens and I had to raise 1 drake because he was too weak after birth. The hens did not accept him later on. Now both drakes (Drake and Muts) are best mates. Maybe because Drake likes ducks and Muts likes me and my boots in particular? They push each other off when one of them tries to mate until the female gets fed up and leaves the pond. Leaving both boys frustrated . They both take guarding duty very serious and don't overmate the 2 girls. Guess I am very lucky.

My Muscovy drake and Runner drake live side by side and in the 2 yrs i’ve Had my Runners they haven’t even had a confrontation they have their own girls and mate only them I know if it was another Muscovy it would be utter disaster but for some reason my Muscovy doesn’t mind having a Runner drake living here. They def aren’t best buds but that’s okay at least they aren’t fighting and injuring their girls.

I had 3 drakes(2 swedish blues, 1 rouan) and I dont think I have seen them fight each other....only the roosters. They were always together and happy. I had to remove 2 because they started to over mate all the hens I had. But they lived together for almost 3 years and no issues.
