can u guys explain the differences between pagan and wiccan? :)
Pagan is basically non Christian. Christianity is rooted on Judaism, so basically anyone who doesn’t worship their God.

Wicca is a form of modern paganism that claims to have its roots in ancient beliefs.

Witchcraft is defined in so many different ways, really so it depends on the practitioner. Most are either atheists or polytheists, but Christian witchcraft is actually a thing. Typically there’s no belief that Satan exists. Many pagan Gods and Goddesses have human traits, and many specialize in certain things like the hunt, agriculture, war or the home. Many saints in Catholicism were once Pagan Gods and Goddesses.

Keep in mind that there are many, many different pagan belief systems that believe in magic. Druidry, Heathnry, the Celtic system, etc. Then there’s Wicca which draws much of its beliefs and lore from other sources and belief systems; it was created in the 1900’s but I never remember when for sure. 40’s? 60’s? Anyway, there is no one way to be a witch. Everything is up to the individual practitioner to do what they feel is right and to worship the deities that resonate with them.

Spells are similar to prayers, but witchcraft encourages the practitioner to use the innate power of things combined with their own power and will to manifest what is needed or wanted. It’s not just left to the gods to make it happen.
Well said! Many pagan practitioners do not identify as witches at all. I didn't until I got into spellwork or as my (non-pagan) husband fondly teases me, "You gonna work some roots on that?" Crafting spells is fascinating, so many ways to go about it, so many different traditions.

And importantly, you do NOT impose your will on an unwitting or unwilling person - EVER. Hence the warning early in this thread about love spells & potions: unethical and wow, can they backfire. Ellen Dugan writes about a young woman who (against Ellen's and other witches' warnings) secretly worked love spells on a guy who then became a very unwanted stalker... [However, working love charms/spells with your partner's agreement...oh, yeah!]

This is not the weirdest thread I have stumbled across on BYC. But my weird I'd not other people's weird. 🤭 I have always been considered as such.

I think we all make alters. A place we put things of value that mean something to us.

Currently looking into the seals of Solomon. It's history and I love mysticism in history.
