witnessed an egg being laid.

this morning went to check for eggs and caught my hen in the process. I was so excited but concerned. She pooped a bit and the egg stunk real bad. Is this normal? I have been raisin hens since February so I am learning a lot as I go. Thank you

Well don't eat the egg. Wait for a couple days and see if her next eggs will stink.

I tossed it. Didnt even bring it in the house. What do you think it means if the next one stinks too?

How old is hen?

Have you found stinky egg in the past?

Your excitement might have scared her and she pooped?

Did the egg itself smell like rotten egg...or chicken poop?

Was the shell intact?

I would have broken it open to see what was inside, might have held a clue.

The hen is about 2 years old. The smell was definitly the egg. I havent gotten one from any of my girls before. I tossed it into the woods, the smell gagged me.
