Will do. I boiled and blended 2 of my freshest duck egg yolks with some of the vitamin/electrolyte water. It blended up completely smooth, so I was able to syringe it to her easily. I will continue doing that for now. I will let you know how it affects her.

I not sure yet. I'll have my two younger boys help out w that. They will know soon that one passed. So hopefully this new one will override the loss. I was comparing the new chick to the one I got two days ago and his beak is a little diff then the two day old. It's like wider. So Iam thinkn it's a rooster. Idk tho. Hard to tell this early I guess it his beak is def diff.

So sorry for your loss! It's so hard to lose them. I'm glad you got a new hatched baby to help cheer you up. My little one has gotten a lot better. She is acting like a normal chick now. She's eating and drinking on her own, and her balance has improved almost 100%. The boiled egg yolk and water blended up was


I think feeding her with a iv catheter tip has helped me keep food in her belly until she got strong enough to eat on her own. Here's a picture of what I've been using, just in case you ever have another one that is weak. It's an IV catheter tip without the needle. The blue tip attaches to a small syringe. Any local vet will have them, and should let you buy one without the needle attached, i'd guess. I had one on hand from when I was feeding a baby orphaned mouse, and I was working as a vet tech. They are handy to have around.

Oh so happy it's doing better !! Do you put that inside his throat ? That's what I was thinkn I should have done he has hard time swallowing and I was afraid of drowning him. He got v sleepy towards end I also did try egg yoke and water mixture. But I think not enough went down him. But I also did get new chicks from a broody also yesterday. She had 19 eggs to hatch one was killed. Idk why. There wer bout eight alive under her. It didn't have many feathers on it so maybe it came out wrong. Idk. Send pix k. Ty for nice words too

I actually didn't put it down the throat. I dripped it on the side of her beak, and she sucked it up, and I put more drops in when she had her mouth open. I have heard of people tube feeding down the throat. I think there is some threads on here about it. And that would be helpful to know how to do if we ever run into this again. I think my chick was just extremely young and a runt, and likely never got access to any food or water at the farm store before I found her. And she was so weak by then. So a lot of extra care did the trick for her. I would say your sweet guy had something more going on with him.

I'll post a picture later tonight. She's a cutie. I think she's a buff Orpington baby.
