I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I was on here earlier this week posting about my chick Peaches. She wasn't acting like herself and I thought she had an impacted crop. She had many of the symtpoms and a buldge on her chest. I tried all the oil treatments and she didn't improve. I took her to the vet, she said it was just her breast bone sticking out. (None of my other chickens have this... But I will go with it right now because she is the expert...) the vet dr wormed her while we were there. I got her home, put her back out with others and she looked a little wobbly. I didn't think to much of it at the time. She had already had a rough day. I watched her a little longer and everything seemed fine. I went to work and when I got off she didn't run up to see me like she usually does. When I walked closer to her she tried to get up and fell back down. Then when she got up again she went backwards instead of forward. She finally was able to go forward and was very wobbly. Like she was drunk. I immediatly called the vet back thinking it was a reaction to the de wormer. They got her right back in. The vet watched her walk but assured me the wormer wouldn't do that. She gave me doxycycline mixed with vitamins which she is supposed to have 2 times a day for 3 days. The vet said she could have an inner ear infection or something like that... She said it could be neurological but she shows no other signs of anything being wrong. She seems a bit better today but still get really wobbly, off balance, and goes backwards. Not all the time, but sometimes. She is in the house getting extra special treatment. It's heartbreaking when the other happens tho. Has anyone else ever experienced this? What was the diagnoses and the outcome? Is there anything else I can do to help her?
