After reading this thread..i'm realizing that these attacks are more common than i ever thought..
Those trainers ARE very brave for doing that job... Can you imagine the power/strength those whales have? and they let them flip them around and they ride on their nose...etc... crazy and amazing at the same time.
I also dont blame the whale at all... I actually feel very bad for it...

These animals are out of their element and belong in the ocean. I feel terrible that someone was killed. It's like the dog biting the vet tech tho', it's part of the job.

If you surf in FL....you're surrounded by more sharks than I'd be comfy with!

I LOVE those arial shots of all the tasty tourists splashing about in the shallow waters...and swimming between their feet and each other are HUNDREDS of sharks, skates and rays!!!

Just remember...avoid "peak" times...dawn and dusk. (feeding times)...murky waters, dead animals floating around...you know....lots of blood in the water....try not to look like a turtle or seal on your surfboard...you'll be fine!

Besides...I'd worry about the barracuda more! Oh and statistically speaking...you're more likely to be attacked by a wolf! lol

If it makes you feel any better...I used to surf in a Tiger Shark nursery....paddle canoe in a hammer head nursery...and spear fish around black and white-tip sharks! I still have all my fingers and toes!
