Okay, so two days ago, I found this honker egg in a nest box. It was 3.35 ozs. - it's only the second huge egg I've gotten, the first of which was a week ago. My pullets are about 7 months old. I'm wondering if they begin to lay wombos once in awile aroudn this age, or is it, perhaps, a result of the daylight hours being shorter and the temperature being colder? I'm just curious.

(oops - sorry for the beer cans in the background!)

Could it be from the Great Dane?

My RIR started laying x-large eggs around 6 months. My Australorps have been laying whoppers since at least 8 months.

I admit it, Kings - I like my beer! Wish I'd have noticed the cans when I took the pic. I'm obviously a very amature photographer!
Does anyone else weigh wombos? And, if so, what sort of weights have you gotten?
I have another pic of the egg, but it doesn't do it justice:

DH asked if there was a passed out girl in the coop!

yes, whoever laid it sure does deserve a drink! Hope she doens't lay again for awhile....OUCH!
