Women in the military

That's actually the topic of my other paper - and, unfortunately, the military has a sort of don't ask, don't tell policy on sexual assaults. The consequences are much worse for the victim than the perpetrator.

Not even an issue. If a woman has the physical strength to do it, then do it. In the Army and Marines you have to have some good strength in the combat roles. Navy and Air Force even has some positions that require strength. I know plenty of women that can carry around a 98lb 109 round or a case of M60 ammo.

If they can't do it than it should be closed to them Needs to be on an individual basis though. Boy would that mess withe the miilitaries need for uniformity. A woman in a combat role isn't going to allow coddling. So it's doubtful some hero is going to put their life or the units life at any higher risk over them than any of their other comrades. I could see close relationships developing between men and women in the supporting MOS's a lot easier than the combat MOS's.

BTW they are designing new armor and uniforms made to fit women properly. When I was in, the women that had something to show off would have their uniforms tailored. It was against regs but never saw anyone get busted for it. With the exception of lower enlisted of course. Yes women can look good even in an Army uniform.

Yes we know this... I love men in uniforms,but im not gonna assault them....
Heck I see men everyday in uniforms...

No.The Armor should fit for the purpose of safety and comfort. The uniform should make you look good, be comfortable and be very durable and easy to clean, regardless of sex. I've seen men tailor their BDU's too. Military people are VERY conscious of their appearance. That's what morning formation is mostly about.

When I say show off, I don't mean civilian type showoff. A military uniform will never look sexy. A woman has her curves in different places than a man if they have curves. So a uniform that is big enough to fit a large chest or rear is going to hang everywhere else and look sloppy. If a lot of women in the military didn't feel that way the Army wouldn't be doing so much research and going to the bother of redesigning uniforms for women.

As for civilian women. If you want to flaunt it go ahead. I'll be watching. If you don't want to flaunt it than don't.

I agree on that. Someone said the military is quick to punish sexual offenders. The statistics don't bear that out. There are a lot of women that have been assaulted by goons that don't get punished. Just like civilian life they get the date assault thing going for them.

You have to remember that rape is rarely about sex. It's about dehumanizing. Saying that a uniform that looks better on a woman is going to expose her to a higher chance of being sexually assaulted is like saying that a woman in civilian life that wore a sexier outfit or just happened to be more sexually appealing is the reason she got assaulted. How many men have gotten off on that defense. I'd bet quite a few. There's been plenty of prissy women in their 70's that have been assaulted too. Not in nursing homes either.

Anyone qualified to enter the military should be allowed to join and take up whatever position they want and are qualified for. Any race, any sex, any orientation, any gender identity.

I keep hearing about low recruitment numbers, and heavy need for people in specialized areas...why are we keeping willing, able-bodied people out of the service?
