hey, does anybody know if you need a permit to sell live chickens in central ohio? all iv'e found so far are results for selling eggs and butchered meat birds.
 
In person sales, I don’t think so. To ship, then yes, you need to be NPIP.

Also, to transport animals across state lines has its own requirements. Such as when people move and take their animals with them. So, if you are selling to people from, say, Indiana, then they may have requirements to follow. intra-state commerce is usually less complex than inter-state commerce.

To sell eggs or butchered chickens “from your doorstep” in Ohio, does not require any special requirements that I know of. But, to sell at farmers market or beyond has increasing levels of oversight depending on how/where you are selling.

Contact your county Ag extension office. They are there to help you with information.
