wondering if it will work... UPDATE, candling

It may take a little while for the humidity to come back up. Arer those cloths soaked? If not, try using really hot water to soak them...that'll help bring the temp up a bit and the humidity. Don't stress! You're doing great

there is a slight gap on the lid, but i have it securely closed. Got the temp back up to 100* , but humidity is still at 20%.....maybe anothr rag would help?

Another rag and try to check the humidity guage. There are ways of calibrating it ( use the search button and type in calibrating hygrometer) but just put it in your bathroom with the shower on and it should jump right up. Also, stand it up. I've found that on those springfields, it can make a difference.

The other thing you can do is add dishes of water outside of the wooden box. It'll help add humidity to the whole space and the babies can't get hurt at all.

I actually have two cups of water sitting below the tupperware, i will add a rag and sit the hyg up like you said and check it in a while!

looks a lot better. Just get your temp and humidity back up and looks like you are good to go. use sponges or wrags as at hatch if you have a pan of water in there the chicks could get in the water and drown.

So this morning everthing is looking good, temp is going back and forth between 99-102, my hygrometer is not working properly i dont think, because the temp on it is reading like 95* and i KNOW thats not right, i tried taking the batterie out at restarting it....will check in a while, wish i had a window so i wouldn't have to open it up, thats probably not helping the temp!

After these guys hatch...if you ever want to use this method again...grab a cheap pic. frame at walmart, cut the top of the box to accomodate the glass from the frame...and there you go, cheap window!

(Check out MissPrissy styro bator to get an idea of what I'm talking about)

The other thing you can do to check the temps (it won't work for humidity) is use one of the indoor-outdoor thermometers w/ a probe and just put the probe in the bator and the box part of the thermometer on top.

You're doing great!

thank u for the support! I am just praying that at least ONE is growing okay. I guess I can candle on Friday? I put them in on Sunday evening. I dont think the banti eggs are good b/c they are from my birds and the one that i thought was a roo was in the nest box yesterday laying an egg! But the two eggs from my mom are probably fertile since she has a definate roo, a gorgeous guy too!

I know it's hard...but I would wait at least 7 days from the day they were set in the bator to candle. I usually wait until day 10 and normally, all of the ones that have made it that far, make it to day 18.
