won't eat; can't stand, plus I found mites

The northern fowl mite stays on the chicken day and night. The common or red roost mite spends nights on the chickens, and hides in the cracks and crevices of the coop in daylight. Mites reproduce every 7 days or so, and need to be treated at 7 day intervals to get the mites and the newly hatched ones before they reproduce. Permethrin 10 concentrate sold in feed stores, will make gallons of spray when mixed with water, and the small 8 ounce container is under $10. I use a spray bottle, and you can also use a garden sprayer for the coop and roosts. Here is a good link to read:

Since yesterday, I've had to force feed her the rice and buttermilk with a syringe. She will drink water but acts like she can't eat. She's so skinny, I feel bones in the front of her neck and her breast bone is protruding. Am I supposed to feel bones in the front of her neck or is that something that shouldn't be there? Her crop is flat and very squishy. Is this normal for a chicken who hasn't eaten in days? A squishy crop? She moves her neck around like it's hard to swallow. I want to make sure there isn't something lodged in there or something like sour crop.

All chickens have cartilage around the windpipe in the front of the neck which may be the hard bones you are feeling. An empty crop should be flat and not be felt. A squishy crop may indicate either a very slow emptying crop or a sour crop. Sour crop is due to infection and has a sour or bad odor. Here is some info about crop problems:
