Woo-hoo! I'm In Lockdown!!! PIC !

I had 15 that went into lockdown on the 23rd and 9 that went into lockdown the 26th I have two chicks so far and alot of the eggs are rocking but no pips yet. Its my first hatch in this incubator. Once the second one started zipping last night it wasn't 30 minutes later and it was out. Its not even half the size of the first one that hatched but they are so cute. It was so funny cause once it started busting out of its shell the top of its shell stayed on its head for a while so it looked like it was wearing a hat.

maybe if I can figure out how to down size my pictures I will post some on here of them. I may post a question to how long I should leave the first 15 in to hatch before I call them quits. I candled them again last night after I got the new chick out and put it in the brooder all of them but one looked like they were moving really good still and have pipped into the air sac I am just suprized they haven't pipped the egg shell yet. I guess I am just impatient lol.

Very cute chicks Dusterbd! I haven't even tried to do pics on here yet. I got 9 chicks out of 12 so far. Not hopeful for the last three. Had a power outage that lasted about two hours. It happened a couple hours after the 9th chick hatched. I covered the bator with towels to keep the heat in and also plugged the holes so the humidity would stay up. I had to take the chicks out after awhile because the temp was getting lower but the humidity shot way up to over 90. I put them all in a shoe box with a hot water bottle and towels to keep them warm. They're fine...but I'm not sure about my other three eggs. I was already beginning to question them anyway since all the others hatched between 19-21 days. Day 22 just started less than an hour ago. I think there has been too much fluctuation in temp and humidity at this point but I'm going to give it a whole 'nother day just to be sure. Dang...I had a greenish egg and a blue egg and one brown on...I really wanted the easter eggers to hatch. I'm bummed...but happy that I have 9 babies

How many did you end up with or are they still hatching?

I had four hatch so far but the others I'm not sure are going to. They are on day 24 and two more are still trying to hatch. I candled the ones that were still in there last night as for I am affraid they are going to explode in the incubator and I definately don't need that beings I have some more eggs to put in it and nine that are supose to hatch today. I pulled four out last night that I know were no good

and the other five were still moving in their eggs just not alot of movement. Don't feel bad about being bummed I am to. The four I had to take out last night 3 were full grown just didn't hatch and died and the other was a quiter. It mad me cry I hate when that happens. To top all this off we had bought nine chicks from a man off craigslist about a week ago and they had to have been sick when we got them because now were down to two out of the nine. I have come to the conclusion from now on I will be incubating eggs for more chicks versus buying them because then I will know how old they are and know they are healthy. I lost all the gold laced wyandottes and them were my favorite

I guess my next project is going to be trying to find some silkie eggs, some bantam eggs and some game eggs local I can hatch and focus on building me a bantam pen. peepinator don't give up on the three you have in the incubator yet none of the 6 chicks I have actually hatched the day they were supose to and I had alot of problems keeping the temperatur and humidity right through my lock down so they still have a chance they will hatch just might take them a little longer. Congrats on the ones you have

and good luck with the others

Keep me posted!

Wow! 9 out of 12 is nothing to sneeze at!! The power outage may have slowed them down, but don't give up yet. Today at 6pm will be day 20 for me. So far, nothing. No pips, no peeps, no rocking, no nothing. I sure hope at least two of them hatch! What do you do if only one hatches?? Sure don't want one to be alone, I would think that would not be good for the little guy. Guess I'll just have to be patient and wait till at least day 22 or 23. Seems like these last few days have taken FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

No. I candled on day 8, but these are dark, Black Copper Marans eggs, and it was hard to see anything then. Day 18 would've been a moot point. On day 8, I did think I saw at least 8 viable eggs, but really wasn't very clear. Guess I'll just have to wait it out...

I know how you feel it seems like time goes by so slow when your anxiously waiting for the first sign.

I can say that so far 50% of my eggs have pipped on the bottom on this hatch.

I have a couple of dark eggs I cant see in either and Im affraid to pull it out because I still have them hatching that should have hatched the 26th.

So far I have six that have hatched and two more in the bator just pipped!
