Me and my little one went on our daily duck egg hunt again....nothing!!

These free-loading ducks need to get busy!

Shelly, do you have a heatlamp on them. when I put the heatlamp on my calls, the started laying for me/ I use the red infrared heat lamps. They must love it. I am getting 2 a day from them and a duck and goose and one lone chicken!

No, mine all live on the pond, so if they are laying, they are hiding them really well. There isn't much tall grass around the pond this time of year, and they don't wander too far away from it. So they just aren't laying atm. That's ok though, gives me more time to seperate them

Update as of 7:30 AM today...One duckie is almost out, his little beak got stuck in the membrane and he could not progress....I had to help him...Sorry MissPrissy! I had to help him. 2 Geese have their little beaks sticking out a hole! 4 others are pipped and cracking shell all around the end. 3 other duckies have pipped but not much else.

Going home at lunch time to check on everyone.

ok update as of noon today.

Pekin duck, pipped and zipped but got stuck in shell...again (not enough humidity I think. I unstuck her but I can see her bum and there is a lot of yolk to absorb....I wrapped her little shell and body up in a warm wet papertowel so she can finish doing her job while I am here at work.

Chinese goose/Pilgrim crosses. Pipping and zipping like mad. Did not touch them. I kept hearing MissPrissy saying please step away from the bator, don't touch them, let nature take it's course....Thanks MissPrissy for the kick in the pants so i leave them alone!

It was so hard last night to stay away from them, but to ease my pain I got on BYC chat board and that SO helped.

Everyone should try that, it is really fun. at the top of the index page it says BYC'ers on chat and you click the link to join. it is fun to get instant responses to what you type. what fun!

and in case you all did not hear, I shot my first possum this am. that was interesting.

Ok everyone. Hatching, we have 5 geese hatched and one peking hanging in there...it is hatched but not doing well, laying under his cover of warm water soaked paper towels. still wiggling but gotta suck that butt in

The geese did not need any help at all! And guess what everyone, we did this using an old LG turner with the rubbery finger turner. upright not on the side like everyone says you have to. I am excited!!!

I think I will candle again tonight during their cool down. Might as well since I need to pick them up to turn them and they will be getting chilled anyway!
