I always brooded, with luck she'll lay again for you too that way. Left on their own to be parent raised they have a50/50 shot, in a brooder, they are all fine unless you screw up something, much safer I feel.
Started birds can be found with ease for reasonable prices, $40-$50 on woodies, $40-$60 on mandarins, personally I would never pay over $40 on woodies and $45-$50 on mandarins, said that in another thread, and started a war, but it's true, that's what they are worth, the 60-80 range often seen on websites and auctions is just crazy, those two species are a dime a dozen. Contact me and I'll give you some leads too if interested. Right now, it's just a waiting game as most of last years birds are sold out and it'll be this fall before most breeders start to ship '10 pairs
