Wood shavings for the ducks

Doctors actually used to prescribe licorice root teas, lozanges, etc for respiratory and tummy issues. A lot of people still use it for those things. My grandma is a believer!
And we started talking about licorice and root bear because of my sassafras trees we recently cut down. Sassafras was used in root beer back in the day. So this convo really did start out about wood shavings. hahaha!

Finally! That bag with my special wood-shavings was delivered toady! Here is how they look like:

Those are really fine shavings, able to soak up a lot of water, i tasted a larger one and it was really good!
Then i soaked some of them in hot water to simulate heavy usage by the ducks and the taste was still good!
But then i tried the soaking water itself and to my surprise that tasted awesome!
Here is a picture of the shavings together with the bag they came in:

Offered some to the Duckies and they loved that stuff to, curious how it will look when it comes back out…

Those shavings are really fine and soft, here is a picture together with ½ dollar to see the size of the single bits:

In the evening i figured out, that wood-shavings together with dried peppermint, soaked in boiling hot water with a spoon of brown sugar is an excellent cure for a rough throat!
