Wood Shavings?

Is it fine if chicks eat wood shavings? My 9 day old chicks do nothing but eat, drink, sleep, and dig around in the wood shavings. Also they seem to like to eat the wood shavings. Is this normal? My last batch of chickens didn't do this!

Pretty normal. Give them a pie plate of dirt to play in instead.

Just make sure they are not Cedar shavings as those are toxic to chicks and chickens in general.

My last batch of chicks ate the shavings like crazy! They are now 16 wks old and doing fine.
