wood shavings

can you use oak wood shavings for bedding or will it hurt the chickens? I only ask this because I know that oak is poisonous to horses. Does any one know?

I've been using it for both the brooder and coops for several months. Nobody's dead yet. I also use it in my barn for the mules. They're not dead yet either.

Ive heard that cedar is harmful to chicks and chickens. But never heard anything about oak being harmful. It is probaly just fine.

i have been using cedar shavinds in my coop for months and everyone is fine.
