Woodmort (aka Jim Mortensen)

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself. My father, Jim Mortensen (also known as Woodmort), was an avid chicken enthusiast and posted here often. He died on April 29th from complications from the coronavirus.

I am now trying to do maintenance of his chickens to help out my mom. One thing that is desperately needed is to clean out the coop, so I will be looking for articles here on how to do that, and what to do in the coop after removing the waste. Any tips you can give would be greatly appreciated, too.

For years I've been enjoying the eggs my Dad has so generously shared with me. Now I'm looking forward to learning about how to care for his funny and delightful birds.

Sorry for your loss Sigrid. Talked to your dad just once on here, saw he was from Oxford, I worked in a bluestone quarry there for yrs way back. Know a lot of people Oxford Norwich area, I'm in Masonville, Sidney school district for the kids. Remember your dad said he was a school teacher.
You'll find everything you need to know about chickens on here, and lot's of support. Stick around and pull up a chair.

OMG, I missed this until today. My condolences to you & your family. I always enjoyed your Dad's posts & noticed in the last few months he was around more. I didn't know about him being sick, so was shocked when I noticed the RIP under his profile this morning! Welcome, there are many helpful people on this forum. I will miss your Dad's posts.
