Woods-style house in the winter

Pics
The weather here this winter has been all over the map. We've had rain, snow, ice. Had temps from the 50s in the afternoon, dropping to 4, with wind chill said to be 20-30 below. All through that, my birds have had ZERO problems. No frostbite, None of them have fell off the roost frozen into a chickensicle. A bunch of them went through a molt, again no problems. They spent a week in the coop after one snowfall. The popdoor was opened, they just chose to stay in. They really don't like walking in snow. Some eventually came out, others waited until the snow was practically gone.
Great news. I start the build in March. Placing my orders for birds... Chanteclers, Bielefelders, Austalorps & some heritage turkeys. Might build an open air house for the turkeys too.

Same here! Ordered the book last week & can't wait to get building.

I've pre-ordered 2 dozen hatching eggs of Bielefelders & Belgian Cuckoo Malines.

Are you getting the eggs from Bart Nagel?

Jack E-- do you have a pic of the roost set up inside?? SHould it be high , ore just about 2 feet up off the ground??

((birds didn't arrive, so coop has not been finished))

I am going to suggest that you get a copy of Dr. Woods book, It is very helpful, and is available on-line. My Woods coop is 6 x 10. There is a ratio to be maintained between the width and depth of the coop to create correct draft and air movement.
That's all.
