WOOHOO!!! (Pictures) ~UPDATE, IT WORKED~

Quote:
When my cousin and I moved her broody to her old "goose hutch", we moved her entire "box". She was actually in a large cardboard box. So, we picked up the whole thing and put it in. We moved her first thing in the morning and she never left her clutch. One of us had our hand stroking her back while we did it. The following day we added more eggs under her for a total of 12. She hatched out 8.

Good Luck to you and Congratulations!!!!!!

Ok I'll try to move her whole nest.

I will keep my fingers crossed!

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went out in the pitch black and picked up her whole nest box and eased it into the kennel. I got pooped on by another chicken but it was worth it. Now I don't have to worry about Turkey getting pulled out of her nest. Yes my hens are hateful, they will actually pull each other out of nest boxes by the neck feathers. And I don't have to worry about chickies falling out of a nest box that's 3 feet off the ground.

YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS Y'ALL???!!! I'M GONNA BE A CHICKIE GRANDMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And so the countdown begins. She's been on the eggs all day so what 20 days left? This is awesome, I'll have baby chickies and then a couple of weeks after that I get my baby goats from the breeder!

When do I candle the eggs? In a couple of days?

I am sooooo jealous. Glad the move went well. If the kennel she is in is in the coop you may want to place something over the top so the other hens don't poop on her head! Keep us up to date.....Grandma Kluck!!!

LOL Way ahead of you Tink. I have wooden planks over the kennel with a concrete block holding them in place.

I just checked on her, she's sitting tight on those eggs. Hopefully she'll eat tomorrow. She ate about a mouth full today and I didn't see her drink at all.

Went out to the coop this morning and checked on my lil momma and she is doing great. She's just fine in the kennel and happily sitting on her eggs without the worry of other hens messing with her.
