Kingsdaughter,
We got a batch of chicks years and years ago, (in a past life, even!) and one of them was blind. One eye had not formed at all and the other looked as if it had a cataract over it. We named her Helen, after Helen Keller, of course, and she was the very best pet chicken you could imagine. The other chickens never picked on her. I think she could see a tiny bit, shadows maybe, but she always knew when we were near and came running to be with us. I think we must have had her for a good 3 years before she just disappeared one day. I'm sure something must have gotten her, but it still amazes me that she was around as long as she was and became such a great pet. Perhaps your little blind chick will surprise and delight you the way our little Helen did us. Good luck and congratulations on your babies! Mine came last Monday and I can't remember when I've had such fun!
