My chicks are due to hatch today. One already had. I was adding water to the incubator when I splashed some water on the heat adjuster. I thought that it would be fine, so I did nothing. I came back and checked 15 min. later and the temp had risen to 114!! I dried off the unit and used a blow dryer to dry out the heat adjuster. Called out to husband to come and try and fix the darn thing. Unplugged the heat element and threw the eggs under a sitting hen.. Two of the eggs had pipped and were chirping. After a few hour of adjustment, my husband got the heat back to working correctly. I took the eggs from the hen (they felt a little cold) and put them back in the bator.. If any more hatch it will be a miracle. With all of the humidity flux I am not sure that the ones pipping will be able to hatch. I am very worried, but it is my own fault for not being more careful with the water.
