Looks like I got lucky with ALONE.

I was wondering why we all guessed MOOSE before GOOSE, and had done similar with other words on other puzzles.
It doesn't seem to be due to frequency because G is used 3 percent of the time and M 2.7 percent.
I ended up going down a rabbit hole of Phonaesthetics - the study of beauty and pleasantness associated with the sounds of certain words or parts of words.
It seems M is regarded as euphonious -pleasing
and G is apparently cacophonous -displeasing
Interesting... I wonder how much that sort of thing effects our choice of words?
