Working Farm Dogs

Marlowe is a shelter dog, we think a Corgi/Dachshund mix. He's normally an inside dog, but last year he was tasked with keeping a bottle goat company AND watching our young ducklings and chickens as they learned to live outside. He tolerated the goat's antics and several times chased away interested birds and wandering cats.

Mine are guard dogs. They let me know if anything weird is going on or if anything is on the property.

I am loving these pics!
Arabianequine- is Symphony full grown? I love the baby pic.
The "sneaky turkey" (It looks like Blaze just noticed the bird when you snapped the pic) and the wiggling pugs crack me up every time!

How tall is Evie? She looks so pretty- long legged and graceful.

I've never owned an aussie, but i'm a sucker for blue eyes!

Rabbitmage- are those curly ears on your dog? I've been lucky enough to have a few corgi friends in my life and they are truly big dogs in little bodies.

added: WhiteMtns- I almost missed those adorable faces! I love the snoozing pic too! oh, maybe not snoozing- just "in the zone"!

No she is 10 1/2 months old......she does seem a bit shorter for the saints we have seen.

I added some pictures to that link so the most recent pics of her are the 5th and 6th ones.

Thank you.....her baby pics are sure cute. Grows fast though. She has more growing to do and will stay on puppy food till 2 years of age.

Meet Scooter the wonder dog. Cuddling with Ernie. Scooter was 2 weeks old under our old house when we moved in with his 6 other siblings. They got homes, Scooter got us. He never EVER messes with the adult birds, but thinks chicks are a snack, so we have to keep him away from them.

he is normally a very vocal dog when something isn't right on the property.

Multipurpose farm work is what I breed my dogs for.

My first rough collie killed rats and raccoons and tried to nurse baby chicks and ducks... I've been working to preserve these instincts since. Right now I've got a fellow whose primary jobs include rodent removal (but he leaves my sons' pet rats alone), keeping the sheep away from places they're not supposed to go but palling around with them otherwise, watching over babies, religious property patrol, and just generally holding my homestead together for me while I'm distracted with school. He only turned 1 in August and I want to clone him.

All of the collies who have graced my household over the years are discussed and pictured in that link below my signature.

My Bullies take their jobs very seriously....

They hold down all comfortable household furniture...

When given the opportunity, they double check the garbage to ensure I haven't "accidently" thrown out anything of importance..

They keep cute little 3 year olds with broken arms company..

Their job requires them to look at me adoringly at least once a day.

They will also, with out being asked, if given the opportunity "clean the cat litter"... I chose not to post a pic of them doing that job!

As you can see they live very busy strenous lives..

This is Allie my Pug, Guarder of Chicken, ducks and turkies! She is an inside dog but when she is around her chickens any other animal better not come near them!!!!

Bruna and the other dogs are guard dogs, foot warmers and poop eaters. They're all too old to do much more. Any new corsos I get will need to work a little harder!
