Up until about 3 weeks ago, there was a lone chicken in our barn. She was old, for a chicken I'm sure, but we had no way of knowing how old exactly. She was the last surviving chicken from my brother's chicken raising time, several years ago and her name was "World's Oldest Hen" (not the most creative, I know!). Someone who had been mowing the fields thought she belonged with my cousin's new flock and tossed her in with the other birds, but I pulled her out b/c we were worried about the old girl getting beat up.
Hopefully her little chicken soul is at peace. She was so cute, would come running down the barn aisle when she heard you open the feed bin and her little toenails would click click click!
