Dear Lord I found a blood spot on my yolk with a slimy cord attached and as it dried out I now see a small white string thing. It does not look like any photos I have seen on the subject.
And I fed one to someone days ago not thinking to check it out. I thought it was just a weird thing but two of my eggs had them this morning. Her eggs were scrambled. I want to die. I also sell my eggs.
Also I have no roosters, so they aren’t fertilized. I am trying to add photos but for some reason I can’t do it. Am using an iPhone. Please advise me on what this could be or how to add photos?

How long have you been noticing this? It actually seems pretty normal to me, if it's the chalazae, the white stringy thing that holds the yolk in place at the center of the egg. Blood spots are also pretty common in homegrown eggs. Store bought eggs are candled and all the ones with weird "normal" deformities are discarded so the public isn't grossed out. The chalazae is a lot more prominent in fresh eggs and seems to dissipate the older they get. Though it's possible it could be a roundworm... you'd have to post a pic to tell for sure.

I'm with Flappy.. guessing it's the chalaza. It will be the .. Ahem.. glob of white, which can have a pretty long stringy looking white tail. I'll see if I can find some photos for you to compare it to. WELCOME! I think they are probably fine. Also thinking if it were a worm, you would know, not wonder. :)
