I took some of my chicks out to play in the garden while I was working. They found earth worms and they were happily playing with , and eating them. Is it too early? They were hatched April 25.

If they eat worms, do I need to add grit?

yes on grit my babys have been eating meal worms and then we got some night crawlers that was horrifing to watch them torcur and streach that worm but funny also. they should be find my only worry was worms being to long and chocking but they did good

I've never given worms to my babies really, but thats just because they're inside (my living room lol).

However, out in our coop, we lifted and old board to move it and there were thousands of worms that our chickens went crazy for!

If you ever want to see something entertaining, we have these small little, almost like tree frogs, that are around in the garden and what not. Throw one of those in there.

i will be sure to take a video of how they act when they see a "precious" frog in their reach.

Mine are about the same age. They've had a few earth worms and do fine with them. ( with no extra grit) Worms come with their own grit, right? :)
