Wormer and withdrawal period question.

Hi there, I recently wormed my chickens and my husband has asked me why it is that there is a withdrawal period for eating their eggs after worming them. If anyone could break that down for me (specifically) I would greatly appreciate it. Simply saying, "because that's what you are supposed to do" or "the label says so" isn't going to be good enough of a reason.

Depends on what you wormed them with. Specify the type of wormer you used. Wazine and Safeguard both have a 2 week withdrawal after each treatment.

There's wormer residue in the eggs. Do you know if you or your family will have sensitivity or an allergic reaction eating eggs after worming?

14 days normally. As far as a reaction to ANY wormer, I dont know. I dont eat eggs after worming. I wait 14 days. I recommend that you contact your doctor and find out if you're allergic to albendazole and/or fenbendazole. I'm sure you'll be tested to see if you're alllergic or will have an adverse reaction, however slight.

Read lots, but cant tell.. if I can feed the chicken their own eggs day after worming.. accidentally cracked an egg in my
pocket while cleaning out small coop
course would add another egg since new eggs are still "practice sized"... this would be used for 10 chickens mixed with whole grain brown rice... so each chicken wouldnt get much egg....
OH ALso was it okay for them to eat after dosing with Valzaban i hr bfore bedtime? does it lessen the Valzaban effects ???
