worming baby chicks

My hen has 4 baby chicks that are 3 and 4 days old. I saw some poop this morning with what look like a worm, at what age can you worm baby chicks and would you use DE ( Diatomaceous Earth)? Mamma took them outside for the first time today.

Was it the chick's poop that had worms? For a bird to have worms at this tender age would mean you had a serious infestation, so I hope not. I'd investigate further before jumping to a wormer for littles.
