Do pumpkin seeds really help with worms or is that on old wives tale?

There are non chemical wormers that are worth a try and do not require you to refrain from eating the eggs during treatment.
I use Verm-X (Verm-Xusa.com).
Verm-X is an herbal treatment that creates an environment in the bird's gut that is not hospitable for worms, causing them to be expelled from the vent.

Can I feed the cayanne pepper to my chicks too? Is there a minimum age to start them on this routine?

Newbie here. I have a 50lb bag of organic layer pellets. How do I add DE or Cayenne (or both??) to that big bag? Or do I add it to the feeder every time I fill their feeder? I have never seen a worm, but it sound like a natural preventative would be a good thing, right? I already use food grade DE in their shavings and in the shavings under the droppings board. Thanks!

yes that is the proven way to worm chickens by using a herbal worming

give it a try
3 tbsp of cayanne pepper to gallon of feed as the only feed source for life of chicken
have you seen worms in the manure of your chickens?

if so try this and watch the manure
some of the dead worms may come out in the manure
most times the dead worms are used by the body for proetin

Sound wormers do not kill the worms, rather they paralyze the worms and force them to release from the intestinal walls (such as Wazine & roundworms).

Wormers need to be repeated after a certain amount of time, depending upon your treatment & parasite. The reason for this is that paralyzing wormers do not force the eggs to be expelled. Roundworms have a long lifecycle - something like a month - and the 2nd dosage of Wazine is to expell the worms that came from hatched eggs.

my friend Randy Henry who did studies in his 17 yrs at college for vet said that all the studies they did it proved the pumpkin seeds did not deworm chickens

so every one needs to take a sample of the manure to be tested before starting the herbal wormers and then after using it for several weeks take sample of the manure back and have it retested to see if there are any less worms in the manure

yes it has to be added to the actual feed every day so it is mixed good and the chickens will eat it as their food source provides the feed

and that herbal wormer mentioned above the most ingredient in it is cayanne pepper
