Worming Chickens

My question is...does everybody worm their chickens as a precaution/preventative measure? I have heard a few different things, and I'd like some more input here.

I don't use the "big guns" wormers as a precaution, but I do feed them DE.

DE is useless as a worm preventative. Preventatives would be crushed garlic, crushed pumpkin seeds for example....but not treatments.
