Worming Chickens?

Seems to me that if Cayenne pepper worked so well on worms, the manufacturers of our poultry feed would toss some in the mix. Boy, they could even charge more for it! Not only that..... it would put the manufacturers of the wormers we use out of business!

Here is an interesting thread......

Yes, depending on your location - herbs may not work. But in most places they do.

Why would location have anything to do with Cayenne Pepper working on worms?

I can tell you my experience...... I DO use Cayenne pepper..... alot,, actually. It is a very healthy food product. Last year I had a pen of meaties butchered. Half were butchered at age 10 weeks, the rest at age 12 weeks. The 12 week old birds had worms.

No, cayenne pepper does not work on worms. It is, however, a very good food product.

Three reasons why people think natural remedies don't work include not using enough, not using it long enough, and not using strong enough plants. Plants vary in strength. You usually need to use much, much more when treating animals with natural remedies. It can be more expensive than synthetic, when you have a lot of animals to treat and you're not growing your own medicines.

I too use herbs. My birds free range and are not stuck on dirt all day. If it is nessary to worm chickens 2 times a day why don't they make a wormer for chickens? Why is every one using cattle or goat workers?

No one "worms chickens 2 times a day"

Wormers are wormers, no matter what animal is on the label.

There ARE wormers tested and marketed for chickens, and many can be used on other species as well.

The reason people use " cattle or goat wormers" is because that is how most of them are LABELED,

Safeguard (Panacur, Fenbendazole) is the same chemical, no matter what animal you put on the bottle.

Ivomec can be used on anything from a mouse to an elephant, including humans, but you won't find a bottle at the feed store labeled "ELEPHANT WORMER"

Learn the chemistry and don't worry about a picture on the bottle
