In Gail Damerow's book the chicken health handbook on pg.80 she talks about administrating piperazine (wazine) as a one time oral dose of 50 - 100 mg per bird. Does anyone have any idea what the 50-100mg means? All I have ever used was ml syringes. Conversion mg - ml ?? I called cvs and the pharmacist did not know..I also know to put the wazine in water 1oz. per gallon of water is that for just one day and then in 7-10 days treat with a broad spectrum wormer like iver pour-on or something else??

I use Wazine-17 and I treat for the recommended time listed on the bottle. I use a regular size shot glass per gallon of water and change that water each day whether they drank it all or not. The dosages on the packages confuses the crap out of me and unless you have a degree in something or another you probably won't convert it properly. I also called the pharmacist when I first used it and I got a very awkward response. I don't use anything other than wazine though.

How many days do you treat with the wazine? On the bottle it really doesn't say, it just said to repeat in 30 days..Do I treat for 1, 2, 3 consecutive days?? Re-treat 7-10 days same way??

I use 1oz. to 2.5 gallons of water. Administered in the heated dog bowls so I know it's consumed. I give until gone. I just wormed mine about 2.5 weeks ago and threw the eggs away for 2 weeks. Everyones looking good

Edit to add: I did it as a preventive. I found no signs of worms but with our weather being the way it has been (wet, foggy, nasty) I went ahead and wormed everything on the property and will repeat in 30 days.

Anyway I give for two days. I think the bottle implies a one day treatment but as I said before livestock meds are lacking in the instruction department. If you have a visible worm infestation then you are going to want to do a follow up dose in 7-10 days. If you are just doing a preventative thing then it would be my thought to only treat once. I am not an expert but I have recently decided to make a conscious effort to try to help out unanswered posts the best I can.

Thanks a bunch for the info..I just started today with wazine because yesturday I found a roundworm in the feces. Thanks again for your responses..
