I am currently having a family member watch my 3 hens and received a photo and one of them has me a bit worried. im thinking mites or worms but not sure since im not there to check and my birds dont like to come to said family memeber. can i deworm and treat for mites as a precaution? does any one know if verm - x pellets poultry and fowl health supplement is good for de worming? and gordons poultry dust for mites? I havent had to deal with this before and this is even harder as im not right there with them 45834389_2138785709499935_7560488943272067072_n.jpg . 53794434_820591151621394_1818190451035865088_n.jpg 53844256_2286993281581411_570179250963873792_n.jpg
the photo of me holding her is from december. and was rosy and pink. she isnt molting anymore i dont think .

Have you seen mites in your coop or on your chickens before? Chickens can normally have pale combs in winter especially during and after a molt. Their skin can become dry and flaky as well. Where are you located? Gordons is permethrin I think, and it does kill mites. It needs to be used once and again in 7 days to kill the newly hatched eggs.

Verm-X is one of those products that claims to be all natural, but it doesn’t really contain any real proven dewormer. I would use something that has been proven to worm your chickens, such as Valbazen or SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer. If you are not in the US, we can recommend other products as wel..
