Hello, I am very worried about my peacock; Kevin, about 2 weeks ago we finally let him out of our aviary to roam our 2 acres. Over the past few days I noticed him moving around less and less. Before he would call outside my window in the morning and follow me around with curiosity while I worked outside. Now he will wander around very slowly between 3 places; the front yard in the morning,a 'spot of the day' (where he lies down for a good 6 hours), and the backyard where he sleeps. He doesn't make any vocalizations any more, I never see him eat, not even his favorite treats, he has clear runny poops with white in the center, his wings appear to droop. We have had 100 degree weather but it has been down in the 90's the last few days and I feel that I can't say he is tired from the heat anymore due to the nice cool down and the fact that I constantly hear another peacock calling all day long off in the distance. I know in summer chickens will drink a lot and as a result have diarrhea, but Kevin is definitely suffering from something other than the heat. Based on my research, he is showing symptoms of worms and possibly Coccidiosis. I have safeguard for when we worm our chickens, but have never dealt with Coccidiosis. Which do I treat him for? Am I being too concerned? Is Coccidiosis a possibility? I hate seeing him so down in the dumps. He used to be so curious and strut around, now he sulks and sleeps. He is my first peacock. Sorry for making this so long winded. Any input would help, I just want to be sure that if we have to catch and treat him that it is the right treatment the first time.
