Seven pounds is quite light, but I think you know he's thin. I gotta be honest and tell you that to me he looks critically ill, as in most of the time when people posts pictures like this the bird is dead in 24-72 hours. Your window of opportunity to save him is closing quickly. Is a vet an option? If he were mine I would give fluids before any giving medications, so you really should think about that. Please note that I *never* medicated a critically ill bird without also giving fluids.

I mean this in a nice way, but I'm getting the sense that you just want to give him medicine and hope he gets better?

We live in a town where people don't know really anything about animals in general, so a vet who will see birds is really hard, I have been looking for someone who will see birds for a couple years but haven't found any contact numbers and nothing comes up in the yellow pages. We have been giving him water, and got him to drink 40 ml. We are going to make another trip into town to find the tubing and syringe. We are trying really hard to do everything right.

Where do you live? Someone here might be able to give you a vet suggestion.

Could he have an injury? I'm just asking because I can't see his primary flight feathers on the nearest wing in the photo, but it may just be the angle. (Wondering if he might have been attacked by a predator).

I know he does drink some on his own. He likes to stand in a small tub of water and will drink while soaking his feet. We clean his foot tub everyday or every other day if we aren't home for most of a day. I just checked again and he had eaten some meal worms we had put in his food dish.

We live in lemoore ca. He has all his feathers and doesn't show signs of an injury.

We have had him for about 7 months in the aviary homing him to our neighborhood and getting to know him. He didnt show any signs of illness and danced all the time so we decided it was finally time to let him out. He has been out for about a week and a half, then the past few days I noticed him slowing down and started geting worried. Now I am wondering if he just hasn't been eating his regular food we put out for him and that is why he is so light. Maybe it is a combination of not eating and a mild worm infestation getting him down?
