Worms passed to humans in the eggs??

To answer the original question: a roundworm might pass through a chicken's oviduct into her egg, but it's not possible to get a roundworm infection (or paratization?) by eating a roundworm. You could eat a raw roundworm salad and be just fine. One gets roundworms by eating roundworm eggs, which commonly occur in dirt. Also, from what I understand, there are different species of roundworms, and those that parasitize birds don't live in humans. Has anyone here actually found a worm in their chicken's egg? That would be totally grooooossssss....

I don't know if it would be as gross as a raw roundworm salad though

With the number of things I eat off the ground or out of the garden without washing them.... I probably am full of parasites. Oh well. All living things are in balance with their parasite load. Can't kill everything. LOL

I'm surprised this has not been mentioned in this discussion, but any decent health food store will have several kinds of parasite cleanses. They are very common. Just go in and ask about the different ones.

In today's day & age I can't imagine any parent doing these things! They'd get the law called down on them!
Better to just dose periodically on the assumption that there's bound to be a parasite in there somewhere....

I have heard of this before, what spook says is not unfounded and no need to jump on her, its how doctors have recommended for many years how people can find out if their child has worms.
As far as "dosing your child periodically" you should never dose your child with anything periodically unless you suspect they have parasites that are causing them problems.
Most of the population has some type of parasites anyway. Its unavoidable.
Those "all natural" cleanses are still full of potent herbs and I would not use them unless I suspected something.

I was NOT trying to jump on anyone and I apologize if it came across that way.
I know that's how doctors recommend doing it and I've talked to several parents who suspected their child had worms but didn't want to have their child awaken to find mommy shining a light on their bottoms. One particular mom's doc agreed and told her what to use, and then said parents used to 'cleanse' the family each year back when he was a kid.
I certainly did not mean to offend anyone, and I'm sorry it was taken that way.
With parents who swat a child's bottom when needed being accused of child abuse, there are a lot of parents who don't want to check for worms.

First of COME ON !! it is your child and if you want to shine a light up it's a-- , do it.. And while I am at it, take a nude picture of your little one running down the hallway, too.
What the h--- is this world coming to??

any how back to the subject.. take an earth worm and dunk it into a glass of alcohol. It imediately dies.
so I deduce, drink whiskey or brandy or beer and you won't have worms..

I do not believe that worms can get into a chicken's egg while the egg is forming in the chicken.. I cn see how it could get into an egg that is cracked.
and how it could have worm eggs on the outside of the shell from eggs laid on the ground..

It must be so rare,I cannot see getting upset over it..
