Good morning!

Last night my daughter and I noticed a couple of worms in our Duck’s bath/swim water. They were tiny (not even 1/2 inch, and skinny like a pin) brown/tan In color. He is a mallard, his living conditions are very clean, and he comes inside at night. Any idea on what they could be, and any advice on what to do? I haven’t seen any in his poop (and I’ve been looking). Should I just deworm him to be safe? And, if so, any recommendations?
Thank you so much!

*Probably* not worms that came from him, waterfowl usually arent affected by internal parasites, but if you want to be precautious, collect a few fresh samples of poop around the yard, go to your vet, and ask if they can do a fecal. The cost is usually minimal, around twenty bucks or so. Or you could just go ahead and worm them with a broad spectrum dewormer like SafeGaurd Goat Dewormer, or Valbazen.

The dose for Valbazen is* 0.08ml per pound orally three days in a row*. The dose for SafeGaurd Liquid Goat Wormer is 0.23ml per pound orally for five days.
