Earlier this week one of my hens became ill suddenly and passed within 24 hours, at the time I decided to worm all of them with safegaurd, and I collected a fecal and brought it to the local vet. The report came back today with the following:
heterakis gallinarum ova present 3-10, eimeria oocysts moderate 11-30 and protozoan cysts-not specifically identified. I intend to repeat the safegaurd 10 days after the first dose that I gave. Is there anything else I should be doing?

You are on the right track by repeating your deworming 10 days after the first one. That will help clear out any of those eggs/oocytes that hatch in the meantime. After that a bi-annual deworming should keep you on track. You might consider rotating the Safeguard with Valbazen.

Thanks....the heterakis gallinarum seems the most serious from what little I know, the hen I lost was pretty thin so I suspect that was what was wrong, she was always the smallest so maybe that was why she got sick so fast....wish I had noticed her loosing weight sooner.
