BYC is great. And that is why I'm worried, it seems to me that there are so many chat threads and games going on that users are starting to "lose the point". I mean, now a lot of threads don't even focus on chickens or other poultry. Does anyone else feel this way?

Sorry if I'm over reacting but the "jokes, fun, and games section is HUGE. Is this something to be worried about? Just wondering.

BTW I'm not saying we should get rid of that section of the forum, I'm just wondering what other people think.

I came for the chicken info, but I stayed for the chatting with like-minded people who share a hobby, even if the chatting is not about that hobby. There are still lots of people on here mainly for the chicken info, so I wouldn't worry unless people who could help people with chickens are NEVER posting on anything BUT the Games, Jokes, and Fun. And don't forget all the RPGs-- they are a BIG chunk of games, jokes and fun, but that doesn't mean everyone is focusing on RPs--because there is a small percentage out of nearly 200,000 members that do those RPGs--they just post a LOT. I wouldn't worry, but I do think that some people (myself included) should try to get more involved with ALL the aspects of the forum. And that sudden explosion of new chat threads--that'll cool down. Give it a few months, and a few will die, leaving those that will survive as the "main" chat threads of BYC.

Yeah, chat threads, RPs, and last letter game rip offs are what I'm mostly concerned about.

I just think that a lot of people have lost their focus on chickens.

Well, think about it, Mitch. There are about 50 active RPs right now just as an estimate, and since a lot of people are in multiple RPs, I'll say there's 500 people in those RPGs. That is a VERY small percentage of the total BYC membership, but because of the nature of RPing, they have to post in those threads a lot. And those games? I wouldn't worry, they take about a minute to post on, so unless somebody was on ALL of them, that can't take up much time. And the chat threads are the only things there are a lot of members on, but as I said, it'll cool down in it's time.

So are you saying that all we should talk about on this site is chickens? I mean there is only so much chicken stuff we can talk about...... I mean, it's nice to talk about other thins besides chickens. What we all have in common here is that we all love chickens. BYC will always be a chicken site. Even if chickens aren't always our main focus.

And a lot of the reason The games, Jokes, and fun forums seem so relevent is because you're in them. I mean, I NEVER posted there my first few weeks--hardly even knew of it's existance. The thing about that forum is that you stay in those threads for a while as opposed to --say, chicken behaviors and egglaying, where someone posts with an issue, it is resolved, and the thread dies. Nobody keeps on talking like they do in the chat threads, and that is why it is easier to be active in that part f the forum.

I too think that some off the chat threads are great, I have asked Q's about chickens on them many times and get instant answer's, especially on the big ones.
They can be a great source of help, even if the information does get a bit lost and I always find that the conversation always makes it way back onto the subject of chickens.
