Worried about BYC! Anyone feel the same?

As I understand it, most of the people who seem to have a problem with all the games and other fluff are trying to browse the forum using the "New Posts" button. Yes, because the games, etc, are so active, a lot of the new posts will be those. It is possible to collapse sub-forums that you don't want to look at, but the posts there will come up on the "New Posts" because it does all forums. If there were a way to quickly browse only the new posts in the chicken-related forums, it might make some of these folks happier.

I cut through all the crap with a tool I found called the search box. Great for new people like me. I've been finding out all I need to know about chickens on this site. I don't have chickens yet but I'm in the research phase right now and I have plenty of other things going on right now but ill get there. This is a free site and a public forum(place). I have no authority here, only opinion. And in my opinion if no site rules are broken and threads stay on topic I am not going to complain about anything anyone posts. I wouldn't walk into the supermarket and complain about other patrons talking about cars. But I might say excuse me if the were in front of an item I needed. You get what you pay for and I can't complain about anything free, I can only appreciate it.

BYC is often very helpful when we need specific answers and assistance with questions and issues. But when those questions have been answered and there are no pressing issues, it's nice to chill out and just yak with nice people... until the next chicken/poultry related question or issue comes up.

This thread is going haywire. So many different opinions, so many different points of view. But I guess we came to one point: it doesn't matter what other people do with their time. It doesn't! So people, stop being Nazis over this and move on! If people like RPs and chat threads, let them be! It's not like what they do bothers you, right?

I agree, being someone who stays within Games, Jokes, and Fun often, that there should be some sort of cut down. But that doesn't mean that we should force anyone to do anything. Personally, I think those in the GJF should really focus on limiting the amount of RPs and start learning how to make better, more original ones, to keep the viewer's interest instead of slapping together these poorly made offshoots. But that's just me.

This is something that people who go on the games section of BYC should fix. Not someone who looks down on the section and never actually goes there.

I think you there the last time RP's merged or were decided to be cut down/locked. It didn't end well. And a couple of months later nobody ever thought about it. Even those that are 'better, more original ones' get boring, and fade out after a while. That's why new RP's are created, then a few become very popular, and fade out eventually. First it was chickens, then horses, mystical creatures, hunger games etc... Right now canines & felines of sorts are popular until something new comes up.

That's my perspective. I believe the rapidly moving fun & games threads push the chicken things off the new posts page and into oblivion, yet I don't have any desire to kill the fun & games. I think having new "chicken" threads drop rapidly of the "new posts" page might be why it isn't always easy to get an answer to a question here -- people just don't see the questions. More than once I've thought about posting a question into one of the fun & games threads, but I haven't tried that yet.

I don't have a lot of luck with the search function here at BYC. For some reason I usually can't find what I'm looking for. I have much better luck googling my question and having google tell me which BYC thread has my answer than "searching" here with BYC's search function. I'm not sure why that is, but I also find some of the other parts of the BYC interface to be confusing/frustrating. Probably because I'm
