You don't say how old your chicks are, but they begin getting wing feathers within just a few days from hatching, and when they feel themselves begin to fall, they have the instinct to flap to break their fall. You would be very surprised how far they can fall and not suffer any damage. But don't go experimenting to find out!

They are three day old and are getting wing feathers. Don't worry, I wouldn't experiment on my little chickies!
