Hi, I’m worried about one of my 6 (10-mo old) Silver Laced Wyandotte hens. She won’t eat food or scratch from my hand—which is unusual. It’s hard to describe, but her head seems to be sunk into her shoulders (do hens have shoulders?), almost like she doesn’t have a neck. She can still extend her neck, though. I thought it might be an impacted crop, but her entire chest seems large—not just her crop. She moves rather slowly and seems disinterested in everything. When I go into the coop, the girls all meet me at the door, but today, she stayed in the window and wouldn’t come down. The other hens aren't picking on her, and when I put her down on the floor, she wasn't going out of her way to get away from the others. I just don’t know where to start. Thanks, Matt

Cocci causes them to hunch down as if they were cold, and not want to eat or drink. I don't know that that's what this is, but cocci can be life threatening and the treatment won't hurt them. I would get some Corid (hopefully, from your feed store) and treat the whole flock.

The dosage for the Corid 9.6% liquid solution is 9.5cc/ml per gallon of water for 5 days. Make a new mixture daily. Do not add ACV nor anything else to the mixture.
