Last night as I watched my chicks enjoy their first time on pine shavings. I have had them on shavings but with paper towels over the shavings. I took the paper towels off and they were having a grand ol time kicking and scratching. They loved it!!
All of a sudden my little red cochin took a poop and it had blood in it. They are inside, dry, warm and very clean. Also have never been outside. They arrived at our house on May 13. they seem full of life and are eating and drinking.
What would you do? Buy medicine?
They are on medicated feed to boot! OY!!

Just keep an eye on it for now. Sometimes they'll do that and it's nothing. Post back if it continues.

Ok will do. Thank you!

I have been giving my chicks and turkey poults unsweetened yogurt from day 1 to get their intestinal flora going. Their first meal is yogurt/starter mash.

Oh ok. I have them on medicated crumbles. So if I introduce the yogurt tonight, you think that will be ok?
It's not like they need grit. Is their baby grit that they sell?

Just make sure to get plain, organic yogurt with live cultures. I don't think they need any extra grit for it.
