When I was muuuuuuch younger, I worked for a huckster. He gathered eggs from farmers in the area to haul to 'the city' for restaurants and bakeries. He started buying eggs from a farmer that he had not dealt with before. When he started candling the eggs, we were horrified. His flock must have been loaded with round worms. We found several eggs with round worms in them!!!

Good idea to candle the eggs!
Better yet, it's best to worm birds on a regular basis.

Well, his eggs had to be graded, he was inspected by USDA monthly. He had a machine that graded them by size/weight. The sized eggs went onto a tray and then were packed in the cartons. I learned how to hold 6 eggs at a time, place them in a carton, small end down, snap the carton shut and put them in the case packed box in not more than a few seconds! There is probably a YouTube version of this if someone knew where to look!

All eggs with imperfection were removed from the line by the candler, and when you work through hundreds of dozens of eggs, you will see some strange things!
