Worst egg packaging you have ever received?

I got two dozen sent to me like that. Most broke. One did hatch though!!! I am now the proud owner of a beautiful silver laced wyandotte chick around a month old... probably a roo! LOL

Oh well, he came from a fine flock! I just wanted him for a project anyhow. One is fine.

I agree, if a person has a specific way they want it wrapped they need to tell the person, otherwise they shouldn't point any fingers.

I've also heard that eggs that have been cleaned aren't going to last as long? Obviously clumps of manure should be flung off, but they're for hatching, not eating!

That said, I've never shipped eggs myself.

This was, by far, the worst packing job on shipped eggs I have ever had:

The funny thing was the seller said they were trying a "new" way to pack eggs!

There was no cushion between the sides of the box and the egg cartons, only tiny bubble wrap around the whole egg carton-on the inside the carton just eggs with a smalllayer of large bubble bubble wrap on top.

This mess stunk to high heaven!

Unless you're managing to put bubble wrap inside of the eggshell, the air cell can and will move when shaken hard enough. There is space in an egg and contents will move.

A dozen eggs in a three inch high box....several smushed. Then the 2 that did hatch were not the breed I paid for!!! And the seller had the nerve to tell me I didn't know show quality chicks when I told him they were the wrong breed. I had ordered SLWs and I hatched light brahmas!!!!!!

I have to say that I have never gotten eggs that were packed badly! But, then, I only buy from certain trusted folks here and never on Ebay or Eggbid. So, I know my sellers fairly well. And I try to pack very well.
Only one egg I've ever sent has been actually broken, to my knowledge, and it was because some small object actually was poked into/through the box and hit an egg.

I have never had eggs that were packed badly. But I DID get some eggs that were very dirty, and one was so porous that you could see it without a candler.

I think that if you are going to send hatching eggs, they should be PERFECT eggs. NOT porous, not dirty, and not too big or little. They should be perfect.

Now, I do understand that they should not be washed, so there might be a little dirt on them, but these eggs were just dirty, and just as you might expect, several developed blood rings.

I got two chicks out of a dozen eggs, and had to help one out of the shell.

I have only got shipped eggs once. The first time was serama eggs from eggbid. The seller did a bang up job on packing, each egg was wrapped in 2 layers of bubble wrap then the box itself was surrounded by bubble wrap. Not one broke but i did manage to drop one on the floor after struggling to get the bubble wrap off. Out of 10 eggs minus one so 9 & 7 made it. The next batch was also packed very well with a combo of foam peanuts, newspaper and bubble wrap. So far so good here

I wrap mine with 2 layers of bubble wrap too and fill in the empty spaces with the left over bubble wrap or foam peanuts.

Boy, I'll bet you wished they'd have tried their "new" way of packing on someone else. That's just horrible. I've received just a couple of bad packaging jobs, but that beats them hands down!
